G+_Michael Renyard
I have been able to find a bunch of things telling me what 3 dumb routers are. But I can't find anything to help me set it up I would appreciate if somebody could point me in the right direction or maybe there could be a short segment on it on Know HOW. Thank you
G+_Ben Reese
I've seen a couple tutorials, but essentially.... Router A WAN port to DSL/Cable modem Router B WAN port to LAN port on Router A Router C WAN port to LAN port on Router A And that's it. Connect important stuff to Router B and IOT stuff to Router C. Connect nothing else to Router A that you want anything to access.
G+_Michael Renyard
So I don't have to set up any static IP will mess around with the subnet is that correct?
G+_Jason Perry
The only time you need a static IP is when you need it to not change. For instance, I have an IP camera, if the address changes I can't just sit down at my browser and pull it up. When I got a NAS to use as a network video recorder the NAS needs to know the IP static IP do it can grab the stream.
G+_Michael Renyard
Fantastic thank you very much
G+_Jason Perry
And the other thing while I am remembering. Make sure the networks have different prefixes for each network so it is easier to follow an network traffic gets routed correctly. For example Outside router 192.168.0.x IoT router 192.168.1.x Router for everything else 192.168.2.x

G+_Golden Retriever
I think about the time 3 dumb router config came about, Ubiquiti Networks introduced the EdgeRouter X for fifty bucks. People went to using this for connecting the two Wi-Fi routers to there cable modem
G+_Golden Retriever
I do think Steve Gibson posted exactly how to configure the devices in a show notes PDF file.
G+_Ben Reese
EdgeRouter X is a great deal if you're using separate access points. Really the best way to do it anyhow. I think if you pair that with the Ubiquiti APs, you can even have multiple subnets setup on each AP - which might accomplish both tasks.
