G+_Ryan Parks
Is the monoprice maker select the way to go or is the Ultimate worth the extra money?

G+_Ryan Parks
Ken Jancef have you modified or added any upgrades to it?
G+_Shooter_FPV (Shooter_FP
Ryan Parks Yea, I did the mods that Padre went over a few episodes back... the Micro Swiss hotend and extruder plate. Did that back in May and it prints awesome. Those are the only mods I did.
G+_David Peach
Ryan Parks I did a few bracing mods to my Maker Select Plus. Also changed the cooling fan setup. Ultimately my control board died and I chose to replace the motherboard with an open source product as opposed to having the machine replaced. Been pleased with the decision. Though I would say that if you are interested in making the transition of this printer to open hardware that getting the non-Plus version of this printer would probably be a better choice. If you did want to spend extra money, then I would look into an original Prusa machine instead of one of the many clones based on the original design (which the Maker Selects are). G+_Shooter_FPV (Shooter_FP
Forgot about the bracing mods. I never had an issue so I didn’t do it. David Peach knows his stuff about this printer. I even don’t have a problem with prints sticking to the bed. I bought glass and all that just in case, but haven’t had to use it. I did have to replace the side fan for the hotend, but that was nothing to replace.
G+_David Peach
I know this printer because I happen to be good at voiding warranties. If you're not inclined to that type of behavior, you may not want to follow my lead.
G+_Shooter_FPV (Shooter_FP
David Peach I bookmarked it for May 2018 when my warranty expires... lol
