G+_Happy Fuzzy
Because the rarity of such a happening doesn't warrant the time and trouble.
G+_Matt Wait
if more people Know How to more people would i think. I'm thinking of doing it with a old laptop of mine and using #Ubuntu & #Wine (for old win apps).
G+_Happy Fuzzy
It's the greatest use for old tech. I'm not saying it's not worth it. It's TOTALLY worth it if you have the need to save old tech from horrible land fills and have fun playing with things like that. It would be the best way to get older persons into the email/surfing way of life if they've never done it. It's a shame this isn't happening more. G+_John Stoume
I recommend Linux Mint instead of Ubuntu. http://www.linuxmint.com/ It's the same under the hood, but the GUI is more like Windows 7.

G+_Ezar Vasquez
Recommend checking out distrowatch and YT review vids. There's so many besides Mint and Ubuntu.
G+_Adam Goddard
I love the Linux ethos and have my parents on it for the added lock down capability. But on laptops it's power management still has a way to go.. I haven't done a power test since kernel 3.4 so I'll have to give it a go again. Fingers crossed. G+_Happy Fuzzy
Hey, Adam Goddard . I didn't know that about laptops and linux. But hey, the trade off is so worth it. Next time I get an old friends laptop, gonna throw something on it. I remember playing with Ubuntu and that was pretty amazing. Then, just to find someone to donate it to that won't sell it for some hamburgers. :D
G+_Bob Tiff
Ubuntu seems to be getting as bloated as windows one nice thing is most allow you to get a live CD and try it out.

G+_Ezar Vasquez
Kubuntu's cool. i had Mint KDE, loved it, thought it was perfect except for the sluggish responsiveness.
G+_Vincent Tompkins
If you're not sure which distro to go with then test them in a VM environment. I believe Iyaz has already covered it.
