My Raspberry Pi 3 is on it's way (ordered it the day they came out). I'm planning on embedding it in a project that will be powered off of a 12 volt battery. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0098M6XDO?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00

To step down the voltage I'm planning on using a buck converter, this is the one that I've ordered:

I ordered it specifically because it will give 3 amps and the new Pi requires something like 2.5. I'm not an electrician and I don't want to fry my newest Pi.

If you know of a better solution I'm open to suggestions. BTW I'm using the 12 volt battery to power some motors on this project.

Thanks Jason Marsh I have a couple of H Bridges that I picked up and will be using them in conjunction with the Pi to drive the motors. We used a sense hat and explorer hat last weekend at #picademy  in Mountain View California. This is where I got the idea to use an H bridge as they are much less expensive and I could get them much quicker through Amazon. But I ordered both of the real boards too.

Thanks for the Voltage converter recommendation! Been looking for something like this.

I got my RasPi3 last week. I ordered first day with quick shipping and got lucky. What was really lucky was that I was thinking of getting another RasPi when the leak came out. So far I'm very impressed with this thing. Especially not having to waste a USB slot for WiFi.
