G+_James Hughes
Okay KITAs I'm looking for ideas. My Chevy Volt was in the shop for a few weeks (got rear ended by a motorcycle) and can't get back into the habit of plugging in. I'm looking for a way to remind me to plug in. I'm thinking that something with a timer or rtc so it could send me a text if I need to plug in at a specific time. Possibly with a sensor to check the line voltage. I'm eventually going to put in an inductive charger but that requires cleaning out the garage. lol
G+_Ben Reese
I'm guessing it has a built-in battery meter connected to the ECU. A Bluetooth ODB2 connected to your phone should be able to read the ECU values. I like the Torque app, but I'm not sure it has the can-bus codes built-in for the big battery (it does for the 12v system). When I get my reader back from my brother, I'll plug it into my C-Max to see what it will tell me.
G+_James Berry
IFTTT might be an option to remind you when you get home. Otherwise, if you use an Android, use Google reminders and have it sense your home location and run it daily.
G+_Ben Reese
Or make a big sign on scrap cardboard and put it where you park.
G+_The Grimm Perspective -
I take it that you no longer have the OnStar app? You should plug in your Volt all of the time. I sometimes forget mine and the OnStar app will send me a text. But it should really be like second nature. Like when you get off your bicycle, you put the kickstand down. Volt on fellow Volter!!
