G+_James Hughes
So I have an antenna in the second floor attic and a tv on the first floor with no easy way to connect the two. I've been thinking that maybe a couple of arduinos with a wifi adapter on each end. I tried looking for videos on youtube for a direction without luck. I've tried a few of those flat antennas without luck (too much obstruction). Thanks in advance.
G+_J schrofe
If it is a standard TV Antenna, using arduinos wont work because Antennas don't work that way, better off finding a way to run coax.

G+_Jason Perry
I haven't seen any projects out there like you are talking about. If you wanted to use an Arduino you would essentially need to build a radio and a RF transmitter. Then you need to figure out how to stream from one to the other. And last you need to figure out how to adjust the receiver in the attic because it is only receiving one station, unless you don't mind going into your attic to change stations. I would also not run the transmitter into the TV until you are sure the power level won't hurt your TV. Then I am sure there is something I am overlooking. Coax or a HD HomeRun would be much easier, but I would love to see you find what you are looking for.
G+_Adam Torborg
I agree with Jason. I think there are several devices similar to the HD home run. Basically you have a tuner near the antenna, and that tuner sits on the wifi and you use a roku or similar device to watch the programs the tuner serves over your network. G+_Jason Marsh
+1 for a networked OTA DVR. Then use whatever you like (HTPC, Roku, etc.) to bring the content to your screen(s). I'll be doing the same soon, and not sure which DVR I'll go with. In my case, all the TV transmitters are 42 miles away and lie within a few degrees azimuth. You'll only need to rotate your antenna for tuning if your local TV transmitters are nowhere near each other and you're using a directional antenna. Omni antennas receive from all directions (somewhat) equally. Antennaweb and others can show you where the signals are coming from and give guidance on type of antenna needed. G+_James Hughes
Thanks for the input. I'm in a similar situation with the local transmitters are about 40 miles away and all pretty close together. We get a pretty good signal to the TV upstairs. Downstairs tv has a chrome cast, not sure if that will work.
G+_James Hughes
I'm going with the Raspberry Pi based OTA DVR solution. I already have the pi, and the other parts should arrive today. HAUPPAUGE WinTV-DualHD Dual USB 2.0 HD TV Tuner for Windows PC 1595. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
