G+_Yannick Lemin
Hello guys, I'm a bit freaked out: an app called HomeBase Lock Screen (something facebook home was based on apparently) got installed on my girlfriend's Nexus 4 without her asking for it. The strange part is that I couldn't find it anywhere in the app drawer, in the apps section of the settings, not even in the downloaded app from the play store. I have looked all over the place for this, I just couldn't find it but it kept appearing on the lock screen. In the beginning it was not systematic, after a while it fully replaced the lock screen. I disabled it, but I am not sure I have actually removed it and I am really freaked out about the fact that I have no idea if it's the real Homebase app or if it's a hoax / trojan / virus crap. Does this has ever happen to anyone here? Anyone has a clue as to what's going on? Thanks a bunch in advance :)
G+_Zulhaimi Abdul Hamid
No such experience but an app with the same name can be found in Google Play. Maybe you would be able to uninstall from there.
G+_Yannick Lemin
Nope, tried that and it acted like the app wasn't installed...
G+_Robert Hendrix
1, check the device administrators to see if there is something appearing in there. 2, there are security apps that get installed which can be renamed to hide them on a phone. I want to say Prey is one of those apps which track location via SMS, but not sure. It is most likely one of those apps.
