G+_Alex Hulinsky
What do you guys think it's the best podcast app for Android? I can't get the hang of podcast addict.
G+_Steve C
Which podcast? For TWiT both Twit Pro and Twit.Tv work well.
G+_Ryan Standeven
I really like Beyondpod
G+_Phil Chung
I use Pocket Casts on my phone, Nexus 7 and on the web. They sync up so I can start on one and continue on another.
G+_Adam Torborg
I paid for Doggcatcher years ago and I have used it almost every day since. It's pretty great and very customizable.
G+_Jeff Brand
Pocketcasts is a TWiT favorite. I like beyondpod and it's gotten better over the years. Material design, good widget and lock screen controls..
G+_Steve C
What do you guys use those for?
G+_Jeff Brand
Not sure what you're asking. Audio?
G+_Steve C
Why do you guys need so many podcast apps when everything already plays in YouTube or it's own player, for audio only? I use an internet radio for audio, doesn't need any apps.
G+_Jeff Brand
1. Downloads locally by WiFi but I can listen on the road, based on subscriptions 2. Playlists 3. Saved listening positions 4. Background playback 5. Bluetooth (in car) playback controls ... Perhaps more ...
G+_Adam Torborg
Steve C Twice a day Doggcatcher goes through a list of about 25 podcasts for me and checks to see if there are any new episodes. If there are, it will make sure I am on WiFi and if so, it will download them for me. I can play them from a widget on my home screen.
G+_Steve C
Seems like a lot of trouble when you can just listen anytime you want anyway. I use Sirius for music in the car so I really don't see the point of any of this.
G+_Phil Chung
Steve C Not everybody drives and not everybody has unlimited data plan. I download everything while at home so I can listen on my commute to and from work.
G+_Steve C
I listen to a lot of the podcasts from Twit but that's all I have time for.
G+_Steve C
My trips are usually just a mile or two and only take a few minutes. Not long enough for a podcast.
G+_Alex Hulinsky
Ya I just want to download podcast, video and audio so I can listen to them in the car and other places. Now I have a lot of things to try.
G+_Ben Reese
I started with Google's Listen until they killed it. I then moved to Pocket Cast that I got as an Amazon Free App of the Day until Pocket Cast decide to abandon the Amazon Appstore and release a large update that broke the old app. I migrated to Podcast Addict because it was free and let me play at over 1× speed. Doggcatcher was on Amazon Free App of the Day once so I download added that and have been using it since. As for my favorite... Pocket Cast looked pretty good, but I never tried the latest paid version. Podcast Addict let's you play up to 2× speed. For now, I'll stick with Doggcatcher... G+_Phil Chung
Pocket Casts allows for more than 1x speed too.
G+_Ben Reese
Yes, the new Pocket Cast allows for faster playback, but the original did not. Doggcatcher allows for up to 1.5× and Podcast Addict up to 2×.
G+_Ben Reese
Really? I've only got 1.5 available... Maybe in missing a setting.
G+_Ben Reese
Ah, thank you! That worked. Never saw that setting before.
