G+_Chuck Anderson
I've got a Nexus 6P, still on Nougat, and for about the last couple of months or more I've been getting a few errors pop up at the bottom of the screen in a little "bubble" (not in the regular notification area). "Couldn't connect to server...." or something like that, or "Oops, there was an error...". They seem to happen all over the place - no particular app, even on the home screen, so I can't seem to relate them to a particular app. That appears to point me to an app running in the background. And unfortunately the messages don't stick around long enough for me to get the full text of them. Googling the problem only appears to bring up Gmail issues in web browsers on the PC, so no help there. Anyone got any ideas what's going on here? PS. They seem to be happening more often recently - maybe 3-5 times each day. Also, doesn't seem to matter if I'm on Wifi or LTE.
G+_Travis Hershberger
Have you tried a factory reset yet? It's the biggest hammer approach, so one of the last things to try.
G+_Chuck Anderson
Not yet. Hoping to find something to avoid that first ;-)
G+_Chuck Anderson
Speaking of factory reset - I've got a couple of games on it I'd really like to not lose my progress on. Does backing it up to your Google account save that stuff for apps too?
G+_Ben Reese
Google backup might save some, but I'd highly recommend Helium to cover what Google backup doesn't. There will still be some apps/games that the devs have apparently blocked backups on, but this app seems to cover most.
G+_Ben Reese
As for the fix.... I'd second a factory reset - or even fresh flash of the ROM if reseting doesn't work.
G+_Akira Yamanita
I'm guessing that you can't stand an unsolved mystery, like me. lol I remember running into a similar issue. I think that it was related to Google Play Services and the Google+ app. Are they both current?
G+_Raymond Smith
I am having the same problem with my Nexus 6P. Must be a transient thing. I haven't noticed any real impact on performance, but the random popup notifications are annoying.
