G+_Peter Colvin
Hello. I'm in the UK and am a fan of US tv (from Netflix et al) but am looking for a more permanent solution than changing DNS settings every time they get blocked, plus having to change back to us UK services again. I'm already a subscriber of proXPN and it works well on my laptop so would it be possible to keep my main modem/router combo (ISP supplied Technicolor 582n in bridge mode and a Netgear R6300) but also have a 2nd access point on the network that is configured so that all of its traffic passes through the VPN inc Chromecasts)? The way I'm imagining it working is in my house there being "Wifi_Network" and "Wifi_Network_USA" where the former will have all my PCs, NAS etc and anything connected to the latter will be going via proXPN across the Atlantic. Would a cheap router running DD-WRT suffice, and if so any recommendations for something cheap that'll do the job - after all my ADSL is only around 7mbps so really 54g would be more than fast enough. Anyway, love the show, and thanks in advance for any advice.
G+_Urszula Kaczynski
Ever tried xbmc media center.
G+_Peter Colvin
I use Plex for local media, XBMC wouldn't help with getting around region locked streaming services
G+_Roy Gangle
why not go to mr piarate bay and just get them there. and use plex for meta-info and streaming
G+_Peter Colvin
Marcelo Henrique Almeida Acually speed is fine for HD, my line is 8mbps and via proXPN its around 5.5. And Unblock US is fine on a PC but no good on a Chromecast since Googles DNS is set in the firmware and can't be changed. Looks like I'll be sticking with a 8 foot HDMI cable running to a laptop. Roy Gangle That seems to be the best bet, have a NAS with around 4TB on it but sometimes you just want to stream.
