G+_Sergio Cury
Just curious; Why do you need a SAN at home?

G+_Sergio Cury
SAN devices are VERY expensive and normally used on virtualization environments. They are not needed only to store content. Get a good NAS or DAS for that. But if you want to mess around with the concept, search on Google for "How to make a SAN with Linux" and have fun. G+_Mark Dymek
SANs typically start at $50,000. so unless you really need it stick with a NAS. you maybe confused a SAN is not the same as a NAS. while they both offer network storage a SAN is designed to be just like another external drive with a very fast connection. typically they are used with fibre connections. i doubt you have a fibre connection on your pc. a SAN is not a good choice to "store a lot of media content" that is a waste of money get a synology or dlink NAS.
