I am looking to upgrade my  Apple Mac mini "Core i5" 2.5 GHz 4GB ram "A1347" (Late 2012) with 2 SSD's from the 500GB sata drive that cam with it.

Would like to know what should I get at the best price  sense I not have much to spend.  I have posted on free cycle AKA trashnothing.com to see if any one is giving away working SSD's

plus what would be a good version of Linux to use on the Mini.

i have Ubuntu 14.04 on my Intel® Core™ i5-2435M CPU @ 2.40GHz MacBook Pro. 8.1 late 2011 with 10 GBs of ram and a 500GB HD

i love your show and been watching twit live since day one.  been flowing Leo since the first time Padre was in the audience of the old "Screen Savers" on TeachTV.

when I get a chance to.  i would love to come to the Brick house  to see a show or 2 or 3 or 4

i used to have a 2011 mac mini that i upgraded to 8gb ram,120gb ssd and a 1tb hdd. i would say if you want to spend the least amount you can get 2 60gb ssd but you wont have much in the way of storage once the os is loaded. if you want more storage, go with two 120+gb ssd. i personally like the samsung 850 evo(have three of them) but for more of a "budget" ssd i would go with mushkin eco2 drives. only from newegg but i haven't had any issues with it. i had a kingston ssd now 120 gb drive in my mini before i sold it but i wouldn't recommend them after their "bait and switch" issue. linux mint is basically ubuntu but a different desktop from what i read.

Thank you for showing and giving me some advice on upgrading my Mac Mini on KH.for friday 02-05-16

Since I posted this question I have put in 10GB of ram, put on BackBox Linux which is Ubuntu 14.04 64Bit with (Linux 3.16.0-60-Generic).

I plain on getting

Kingston HyperX Savage 240GB SSD the last week of this month.

I have set it up with a ssh server and in VB setup a VPN server. I also set up Nessus, Zenmap (airodump-ng/airmon-ng so I can use my 3 USB wifi dongles to monitor the wifi in my community). also with SSh I can login and check out my own home network using the CMD of

screen -x nmap

screen -x wifi

then use

screen -s nmap

screen -s wifi

then run the apps in each screen in term

Plus one of my best friends Dave witch is a very big Twit Fan and Loves to Use linux all the time also can long in to my Mini server to monitor his home network
