Hi,

I follow Padre's advice and I install Linux Lite on to an old  Dell mini 13 computer. I can not get the wireless card to work with the Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA driver that shows on the "Addiotional Drivers" window.

I have tried everything that I found on the internet already.

Help me Obi One Kenobi!!

Also I have the same problem with Ubuntu in another Dell computer.

Thanks!! :)

Martin.

Eddie Foy Hi Eddie,

ifconfig shows: eth0 with connection

lspci -vnn: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318[Airforce one 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller [14e4:4318]

iwconfig: lo - no wireless extensions

                 eth0 - no wireless extensions

I donwload "iw" like you said but is not "iw list" does not rtn anything.

Any ideas??

Thanks!!

Looks like it doesn't know the adapter is  wireless. iwconfig not showing and weiFi adapters..

A quick skim through Justin Egan link, looks like a great place.  It is a long thread, but has numerous solutions. Focus on posts that are about your chipset (4318)

But once again, I ask, is Linux Lite an install or a 'liveCD' boot (even if off a USB thumb drive counts)  If its not a true install, it can make the 'fix' troublesome (less so if USB) Persistence on a live boot media is cumbersome to say the least.

I saw no option to install on the boot ISO.

Eddie Foy Hi Eddie,

Thanks for your help.

I follow the instructions from the Linux Lite site. Download ISO into USB drive and installed from there with default settings. I did this in other computers and the wifi is recognized from the beginning.

After the install ends I ran the updates too.

I tried to go to drivers and tried to activated from there but it did not work either.

I don't understand what are you asking about the 'liveCD'.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!!

Martin.
