G+_Ken H
I found that my state does allow a digital proof of insurance so I'm going to use this app to digitize it. Got to love things like this and Google Wallet that make my wallet a lot less thick ;-) https://market.android.com/details?id=com.aspdome.digitalinsurancecard
G+_Nestor Custodio
Seems crazy handy, and the UI looks great. If only I lived in a state that allowed it... :(
G+_Joel Shafron
My insurance company's app has a digital proof of insurance so this app would do the same thing, take up space and give a third party access to my insurance information. No thanks.
G+_Paul Werner
Joel Shafron Idk if they'd have access to your insurance info when it is an app with no permissions granted to it by design
G+_Paul Werner
Oh and this'll keep you from having to install apps for each individual insurance company
G+_Joe Phelps
Why would anyone want to hand their phone to a cop??
G+_Paul Werner
Joe Phelps It's not just for car insurance. They have options for health and "other" in the app too
G+_Joe Phelps
Paul Werner I'm just not comfortable handing my phone to other people that may take it out of sight. That's exposing your personal information and everyone else you communicate with.
G+_Nestor Custodio
Joe Phelps A fair point. The solution is for the app to provide a lockscreen widget. Then you can pull it up and hand over your device without granting the person access to view any (other) personal info or install malicious apps. G+_Joe Phelps
Nestor Custodio That sounds interesting. I'm guessing law enforcement is drooling over the possibility of drivers voluntarily handing over their phones. "I need to verify the policy is current. I'll be right back. (Let's see...an iPhone needs the Lightning cable...)."
G+_Paul Werner
I agree too Joe. I'll request it in my app review on the Play Store. I already requested that they add an option to allow you to take a pic of the front and back of the card in case whoever you are handing the phone to needs to see that. I figured there are some things on the cards that this app doesn't ask for in it's fields that they may want to see
G+_Paul Werner
Just a follow-up here. Got a reply from the developer on Google Play saying this: "Thank you for your interest. We are currently working on getting this feature added, please be patient while we sort out all the bugs wit the different phones supported." Looks like they'll have it soon. Thanks for the extra suggestion Nestor Custodio
