G+_Ken H
Originally shared by Paul Werner Seems like a great app to use if someone isn't using or doesn't want to use Plex. Personally this doesn't work for me since Plex ties into Trakt.tv and has more than just my media on my PC. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.videostream.Mobile
G+_Duncan Jaffrey
does it still send your local content via the internet to Googles servers and back?
G+_Paul Werner
I haven't used the app since I use Plex but I would like to know that too if someone tries it
G+_L I
Do all the local-media-streamed-to-Chromecast apps work by sending data to the cloud and back down?
G+_Darko Vrši?
No it doesn't send it to Google servers! Local contents are streamed localy!
G+_Duncan Jaffrey
Darko Vrši? thanks, do you have a link, this is something that I'm interested in in general
G+_Darko Vrši?
Duncan Jaffrey There is no reason and no practical option to send your local content to Google servers and than back to Chromecast! You can check your outgoing traffic on your internet connection. Most people don't even have enough bandwidth to stream UP (and down) local content in full HD. And there is also almost no delay! Where did you get info, that local content is uploaded to the cloud first?
G+_Joseph Cappellino
Paul Werner - I hate to hijack this thread, but what is Trakt.tv and what does it do for me. All I saw on the site is it's scrobbles what I'm watching. Does it give me the shows directly, or does it tie into other services (Hulu, Netflix, etc)? G+_Paul Werner
Joseph Cappellino I mainly use it to keep track of my shows, movies, stand up comedy I watch. I also like to rate things on there. Here's a more detailed write up on what it can be used for though: https://trakt.tv/about
G+_Joseph Cappellino
Paul Werner, nevermind. I found the about page [1]. It's interesting, but I pretty much know what I want to watch. ;-) [1] - http://trakt.tv/about
G+_Paul Werner
Yeah me too, I mainly just use it as a record of what I have watched and to see what my brother watches along with a few friends
