G+_Ken H
I saw someone else share this earlier in this community but I got a chance to check it out and figured I'd give my 2 cents Originally shared by Paul Werner I just came across this nice app today named Charity Miles. I'm hoping this catches on too. It has a ton of different charities you can donate to via the app but the way it works is you go out and exercise (or stay in since it tracks indoors too) by walking, running, or biking. The app will track your distance and you'll earn money for your charity: 10¢ per mile for bikers; 25¢ per mile for walkers and runners, all up to $1,000,000 courtesy of their corporate sponsors. I did one almost 2 mile walk today with Mari Werner and we earned about $0.44 each which we put towards Operation Smile. It's not much in one go but over time as we exercise it'll add up. As for a bit of a tech side of this the app, I used up 41.78MB in data (foreground and background) in my first days usage. This is including navigating around to get myself familiar and signing up on top of my workout tracking. Take that however you will but just thought some people would like to know about the data usage of this compared to other fitness tracking apps. The screenshot I've included is the team that Mari and I made to help motivate people to get out and earn for these charities. You don't need to donate to the same charity to be on the same team but I'm hoping others use the app and possibly join with our team #OperationAmbulate FTW Here's the Play Store and the App Store links: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.charitymilescm.android&hl=en https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/charity-miles/id505253234?mt=
