G+_Robert Hafer
What brand/kind of mSATA card would work best for Raspberry Pi, and keep the build in the "extra Linux computer for my bench" price range? https://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-83477/l/convert-your-raspberry-pi-into-a-desktop-pc?CMP=e-email-SEPO-230517-PIdesktop-HERO&et_cid=29168872&et_rid=885937728&cmp=#top https://www.element14.com/community/docs/DOC-83477/l/convert-your-raspberry-pi-into-a-desktop-pc?CMP=e-email-SEPO-230517-PIdesktop-HERO&et_cid=29168872&et_rid=885937728&cmp#top

G+_Travis Hershberger
Huh, I wonder how they're interfacing the mSATA connector to the Pi?
G+_Ben Reese
Probably with something like this? G+_Daniel Stagner
Is the Pi usb 2.0. If so that would be very slow.
G+_Ben Reese
Daniel Stagner yes. One if the major downfalls. Plus that 480 Mbps bus is shared with ethernet and on-board SD card reader.
G+_Ben Tyger
By biggest issue with using a RPi (any version) for any desktop replacement is that the RPi abuse the USB 2.0 bus with everything they attach to it. 100mb (200mb with full duplex ?) Ethernet, the SD card reader plus any other USB devices that connected pull from a single 480Mb pool... I'd look at a banana pi M2U(ltra) based for a decent desktop replacement. The problem is that your case options aren't nearly as good.
