G+_Malik Bennett
Heads up, Android faithful! Double Google Photos apps made two of my devices unusable for a whole day until I tracked them down. Solution: uninstall the Photos that will uninstall - you will be left with a new system app you need to sign into and configure. G+_Malik Bennett
yep. two of the same icons! my poor phone was almost unusable until I got rid of one of them. my guess is they are preparing to allow more than just 6.0 to uninstall G+, so they need to break out the system functions of Photos and just didn't do a good job. G+_SpiderCowboy
Photos has been separate from Google + for months.
G+_Malik Bennett
Yes, "separate," but there are apparently some system functions that were tied into the G+ app. I just learned, in researching this problem, that G+ is now fully uninstallable in Marshmallow. Speculation, true, but I think it has a solid foundation.

G+_Gary Volk
Have it on 5 devices with over 15 years of photos uploaded and have not had a single problem. Sounds like a very small percentage of poeple may experience this.
G+_tobby
Installing the new Google Photos should have made Google+ Photos dissapear, unless you haven't updated the Google+ app. I would install the new Photos app again and update the system app (Google+) to the latest version (6.7). G+_Malik Bennett
Neither of us went out to install the new Photos app. My guess is the G+ update itself created the duplicate and failed in the data migration process. Seems like they were fighting for access to the gapps system process.
