G+_Mark Jurisch
I bought some of the UBECs that are used on the shows, and in my implementation of the modular project box, when I adjust the potentiometers, in the middle range, the ubec starts making noise. I have the UBEC powering the arduino uno, and also running 5v through 4 potentiometers. Any ideas what would cause this or how to eliminate it? It's really annoying. I should note the whine noise starts if I adjust ANY of the potentiometers to their mid range. If they are at either extreme the UBEC does not make any noise. My setup is very similar to the show, using 3 potentiometers for RGB, and then I used the fourth to control brightness of the LED strip.
G+_Dexter Franco
You could probably put some smoothing capacitors on it. Some of those DC-DC converters have terrible ripple noise.
G+_Mark Jurisch
Where exactly would the caps go? As close to the UBEC as possible? Anywhere in the circuit? Before and after the UBEC? This is something I'm not very knowledgeable about, so specifics would be helpful.
G+_Dexter Franco
I would say both before and after the converter, but that's just from what i've read online.
