G+_James Church
I have a HP envy 750 with windows 10 on it. the video and nic keeps crashing. when i try and put win 7 on there i get stuck at the information screen. because windows 7 doesn't have usb 3 support and i can't make the computer shut off the usb 3 without loosing all my usb ports. anyone know of a fix, or where i can get a copy with usb 3 support? google has failed me so far. :(
G+_earlsquareling
Is it failing at installation? I was able to download usb 3.0 drivers for windows 7 and install them. Granted they were asrock motherboards and i downloaded from asrock website. I was able to go to the ho support website and chose a random hp envy 750. Under intel chipset drivers usb3.0 is listed. Make sure you select your exact model to download the driver. http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-750-000-Desktop-PC-series/7779687/model/7805183
G+_Steve Martin
Is this a new computer that came with Win10? If so, you might just want to send it back to HP for a fix or replacement. No sense in suffering with all of this if the system is still under warranty.
G+_James Church
earlsquareling it installs fine. I just cant type anything after it installs and asks for computer name n such. everything i can find online says it's because windows 7 doesn't support usb3 natively. and i can't find a simple way to get the drivers installed when windows 7 is installing allowing me to use my keyboard and mouse. G+_Steve Martin
Wait, the computer shipped with Windows 10 and it has these crash problems? I'd return it for a refund if that's the case. Windows 10 does not normally have those kinds of issues, and HP should be grown up enough to know how to get it working properly out of the box. I have two laptops and several desktops that I upgraded from Windows 7 and/or 8.1 to Windows 10 and have never experienced problems with the NIC or GPU. Which specific model do you have? Can you point to the HP web page for your machine? The webpage I found shows an HP Envy 750 that shipped with Windows 7 or Windows 10 last fall (Sept 2015.) Do you have restore media that came with the computer?
G+_Black Merc
earlsquareling like a PS2 port will help in this case.
G+_James Church
Steve Martin HP envy 750 -114 and i'll repeat again the hardware fine. my roommates system and my mother have the same issues and they have different computers. aside from that looking for a fix i've found a few hundred others with the same crashing issues. when running Linux it's fine luckily that's where i spend most of my time. but working in Photoshop, streaming movies, and uploading to work i require windows. http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-envy-750-000-desktop-pc-series/7779687 i've restored with the media that came with it. clean install, swapped the hard drive, ram, and installed a video card. same issues no matter what. and i already got a different machine from hp because geek-squad couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. and i cant return it at this point. G+_James Church
Black Merc a ps2 port would solve the problem. if i had that i would be able to type in the required information. and install the usb drivers from the desktop.
G+_Steve Martin
Ok, you changed the video card, what board did you put in? I read on the HP site (below) that the HP Envy 750-114 has a 300 watt power supply, which certainly would not support some high end graphics cards. That would certainly cause the GPU to crash. Did you try going back to the onboard video? http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04792282
G+_earlsquareling
Maybe you could try putting the hdd in another computer and hope it boots (since windows 7 its been getting better) and then install the drivers that way. Or if possible do a remote desktop and install the drivers.
G+_James Church
Steve Martin i started with the integrated video, changed to a basic business video card. it kept crashing and went back. seriously steve did you not pay attention to the FACT!!!!! i run linux on the computer 90% of the time with no problems at all!!!!!!!! its the f&*king os! it's fine to be a fan boy, but dude give up on the hardware problem. it's the shitty half baked operating system. I've had less problems running windows me then windows 10. shit i have had less tech problems running windows 3.
G+_James Church
earlsquareling i did try swapping the hard drive to another computer after installing. it kinda worked. the keyboard n mouse worked installed the drivers. filled out all the info. moved it back and i was starting at the information page and the mouse n keyboard didn't work again. it wasn't the same brand of computer is the only thing i could come up with. i didn't think of trying a remote install. i'll have to see if that works. :) thanks for the idea. G+_earlsquareling
Maybe also try adding a pci usb2.0 port if you have a port available. Idk how you will install the drivers though. Hopefully windows will install automatically.
