G+_Dimitrios Kapsalis
Hi, I am new to andruino and saw the video for creating a project to light up LEDs Green to RED as an object gets closer. I want to mod this project to play a sound as well. What can be used to store and play an MP3 or WAV file from a device? The triggering of the play should be easy in code, but from a hardware perspective, what is required?
G+_Tyler Pearson
A piezo buzzer can give you a decent sound warning. I have seen 8 bit theme music done with it as well. For wav files im not sure. You would need a speaker, sd card reader, some shield im guessing to power and play the file if it exists. Not sure if you will get the best quality sound out of it. Might be able to hack something together with a relay and mp3 player.
G+_Eddie Foy
I'm sure there is a mp3 shield; must be one.
G+_Dimitrios Kapsalis
Hmm. ok i'll check it out. I wanted to take a minion storage container I got (storage container in shape of a minion) and make it so that when my nephew approaches it, it starts making minion noises. Figured I can mod the project shown on Know How to play an audio track when someone approaches it instead of lighting up the programmable LED stick... G+_Tyler Pearson
You can always use one of those minion talking cards and hack that to activate via the arduino instead of using the pressure switch in the card. I have a few I've been saving from my kids birthdays that I figured I would reuse.
G+_Dimitrios Kapsalis
I'm not sure I know what those are. Can you send a link if possible? Thanks!
G+_Tyler Pearson
Couldnt find anything in a quick search. I'm talking about those Halmark or American greeting Birthday cards that you can pick up at your local store. Sometimes they will have cards that when you open them they start to speak or play music. I'm not at home right now but when I get home I can make a video showing one. They have a small speaker a pressure sensitive switch and a small circuit board. I think there usually $5-10 or so. I've never purchased them but my kids receive them from my parents sometimes.
G+_Tyler Pearson
https://youtu.be/GNxWeZluFNk Here is a video with some similar cards. I have seen minion ones before. But you might have to search. Although it should be fairly easy to add to an arduino sketch vs doing something diy with a speaker and shield. May cost less too.
