G+_Daniel Aguilar
Hey Guys. Im looking for a 3D printer recommendation. Budget: ~500 - 1000 Goal: Make toys with my kids and make phone docks to give to friends as gifts. Basically things like that. Love the show. Thanks Danny
G+_Eddie Foy
Being highly opinionated on just about everything..... I like the DIY and open source aspects of the RepRaps and the like. I've heard tons of complaints about having to re-level everytime you wanna use it, but I've only had to after a crash or other mechanical mishap. If you love to tinker, upgrade, and modify, go open source. If you just wanna print without learning the under lying stuff, I dunno, the Dremel thingy looks good. (been burned with 3DSystems, won't ever use them again after the pitiful and insulting customer support)
G+_Eric K
Pretty happy with my printrbot simple metal. Been running without issue for about two years now and no warping issues since getting the heated bed. The new one is a bit more expensive and not worth the extra IMO especially since it doesn't come with a heated bed.

G+_Tony Martin
Im with eddie. My first printer was a Prusa i3 rework that I sourced the parts for and built myself. I only spent about $300 on the printer and ended up with much better parts than a kit includes. I use a makerbot at work and I have got my Prusa i3 printing better quality parts than the makerbot. I would recommend building your own printer even if you buy a commercially available one because you will learn every little detail about the printer and how it works which plays a big roll in fine tuning the printer for higher quality prints.
