Does FreeNAS require connection to the internet for streaming files on the same network?

Does FreeNAS require connection to the internet for streaming files on the same network? Would it eat up my data if i stream files over the network?

It only uses data from your Internet cap if you're streaming to a device on the Internet side of your router. If you're only accessing files from INSIDE your network it will not use any of your Internet data cap.
