G+_Carlton Dodd
Have you never seen the 250 class racers fly? Those are crazy fast!
G+_Wolf 68k
The 3DRobotic IRIS+ can get up to 40mph. Some say it can do up to 55mph, which I can only assume that's with the small landing gear and no extras like the camera, gimbal and FPV kit. G+_Jeff Brand
The title (and most readers...) have missed the point which is that it reaches those speeds with a full load of gear, and it's autonomous.
G+_Wolf 68k
Oh I got that part. The IRIS+ fully loaded is still 40mph, and it's not nearly as aerodynamic as this one. As someone in the comments at Gizmodo wrote, "...it was not flying 45 mph autonomously." And he would be right. When it can autonomously fly at 45mph then I'll be impressed by it's speed. G+_Wolf 68k
Wait, are you saying that the quad is flying autonomously around obstacles at 45mph? At want point in the video did that happen? I saw it flying at 45mph in a straight line with nothing in it's way and I saw it fly at maybe up to 3mph while it tried to avoid objects, but at no point did I see in that video it flying at 45mph AND avoid objects. If however there was a point in that video that it did that then please tell me the time stamp when that took place.
