G+_Newton Robinson
I bought a 4th generation Apple TV. There is one huge problem! There is no Podcast app on the Apple TV! So everyone that has or plans to get the new Apple TV should go to apple.com/feedback and express the need for the Podcast app. For me, I really like watching the podcasts on my TV. I'm getting use to the new menus. Things are bigger (this is good and bad). Easier to see what you are searching for. However, there is not as much on one screen and its organized differently. Not bad, but it will take a while to get use to it. There is a work around. You can connect to a computer using Home Sharing. This works, but I don't want to have to have iTunes running on my computer to see Podcasts. Also, they are not really organized by channel. G+_Eddie Foy
Does the Apple TV have 'channels' outside of the Apple/iTunes ecosystem, like the Roku?

G+_Michael Anthony Bishop
No need to connect a computer. You can use whatever pod catcher on any ios device and airplay whatever you want. Including podcasts. Once the process starts the device can be put away. The podcast or movie continues until the very end.
G+_Newton Robinson
Eddie Foy Yes the AppleTV has many channels. Many that you have to have a cable subscription with. I'm very happy with that part.
G+_Newton Robinson
Wayne Hobbins There is an App Store. There are lots of content apps. The AppleTV 4th Gen has a music app, but not iTunes pre say. I called Apple, and the support team was as surprised as I was that there was not a podcast app. I'm sure its coming soon. However, there is no excuse for not releasing the app when the Apple Tv was released.
G+_Newton Robinson
John Phillips Yes, I have two 3rd Gen. Yes, I can find the podcast on YouTube, but it is not easy, and from my experience, not in order. I understand about AirPlay and other methods. But they are just more complicated then they need to be. I liked how it worked on the 3rd Gen podcast app.
G+_Jason Marsh
I gave up on Apple when they abandoned my <1 yr old 160GB ATV. I'm not surprised. Actually, I swear I heard about the lack of a podcasts app before the Gen4 ATV was released. Speaking of that early ATV, the HDD died a while back and I had a look at crystalbuntu. Anyone want's it, hit me up on hangouts.
