G+_Darren Lomax
After learning about surge protectors on one of their episodes I've noticed all mine are worn out and need replacing. So now I have 3 extension cables which I'm about to replace with new surge protection but non of them seem to have the ability to replace the surge protection part of it meaning in 6 months I'll be needing a new one. Does anyone know if anybody makes these because it seems like a big waste to throw them away after 6 months x
G+_Travis Hershberger
Most of them should carry at least a 1 year warranty, they should work for at least the warranty period. That said you probably want to review the teardowns tomshardware.com - Tom’s Hardware: For The Hardcore PC Enthusiast did. Even some of the good name brands don't get the circuitry right. G+_Darren Lomax
Yeah you're right I'm returning it to amazon but if it lasts 12 months I'll be putting it in the bin. Seems such a massive waste.
G+_Travis Hershberger
Darren Lomax Had to edit my original comment. My phone helpfully put "Everyone" instead of "Even" at the beginning of the last sentence. Big difference!
G+_Golden Retriever
You can always use the old ones for things that don't need surge protection like power tools and countertop appliances
