G+_Ben Kempa
I play some games on my PC but i would like to play it on my couch in my living room on front of the tv. with the latest update to steam, steam stream was introduced. I know you can download steam for Linux, but I can't figure out how to or even if it will work on Debian Linux. My idea was to attach my raspberry pi to my tv and it would stream my computer screen to there and I would plug my 360 controller into the raspberry pi. Any thoughts? Is it possible to get steam on the raspberry pi? Google dosent leave me with very much. I also don't have an nvidia card required for limelight, so that won't work. Thanks. G+_610GARAGE
Steam is compiled for an x86 cpu. The pi has an arm architecture, so steam can't run on it. May I Suggest doing the same thing but with a micro atx board with a cpu onboard.
G+_Ben Kempa
610bob oh ok. It said Linux on the website but I guess your point is valid. I guess I'll just have to get some way of routing USB to the tv then because I already have HDMI. ?would it be possible to do domething like that with the pi or arduino? G+_610GARAGE
No. Well, it may be possible to do something with a pi (don't know what though :) ), but I doubt it would be worth it. I would think that the pi would be a bit under powered to decode and display an hdmi signal. An arduino would definitely not be able to handle hdmi, and most version don't support usb. I did a quick google and found this: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B005WKGZCUDon't know how latency is with it. I would still go with steam stream (since it should be designed to have low latency) and a motherboard/ cpu combo board. They can be bought for around a $100, get a decent video card for $30, and have a great setup. They are also usually fanless, so noise wouldn't be an issue. But that is just my opinion. This one wouldn't need a video card: http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-DDR3-1600-AMD-Motherboards/dp/B006FULRWO
G+_Ben Kempa
610bob what I meant was using the pi or arduino for sending USB from my 360 controller to my PC in the other room. I already have HDMI from my PC to the tv I just need some way to control the game. sounds like it's impossible though.
G+_Taylor Graham
Your 360 controller will plug right into the PC. Just do that. Get an extension if necessary.
G+_Ben Kempa
Taylor Graham I know it will plug into my PC. I usually do that but I can't run an extension since I already have the HDMI and Ethernet run in the basement. I figured out a solution which is to use USB Ethernet extender and use the Ethernet I already have ran.
