G+_Gregg Ordon
Synology 6.1 - Hi Folks. What software do people use to backup their servers to a synology Nas? I don't want to have to map a network drive. In other words, I don't want the server in the event it is compromised, to see network shares on it. There is some built in software you can get, but none of it seemed to impress me.
G+_David Peach
My first thought is rsync over ssh. I have tried it and can't get it to work the way I want. But I'm posting here in the hopes that whatever is suggested for you will work for me.
G+_Gregg Ordon
Currently I use Backup Exec 15 and have it backup to a network share drive. I would like to explore some options built for Synology instead.
G+_Brian Hald
I am using https://www.goodsync.com/for?nas?synology
G+_Peter Hanse
May want something with versioning. If you only sync any compromise of your files get overwritten. You could use hyperbackup from Synology or their is ways to install crashplane
G+_Jason Marsh
Crashplan has versioning, and is available for just about any OS you need to back up files to/from. I've been thinking about using it for a while now, but waiting for my current setup to die first, I guess. It's like switching an OS; not that hard to actually do, but always seems more daunting than it really is. Not sure about crashplane, though. Sounds scary ;^)
