G+_Joshua Delaughter
Are there any ways to remotely control the GoPros? I'd like to start taking photos while in the air (as opposed to starting a video while its on the ground), and other than the GoPro remote or wifi which both are unreliable at long distances.? G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
You can use the onboard WiFi connection, but I don't recommend it. Both the onboard WiFi and your radio operate at 2.4Ghz.
G+_Joshua Delaughter
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ yeah, I've tried that but the range is really poor. What do people do with the phantoms rigged up with GoPros?
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
They start recording on the ground. -- The newer Phantoms, with the Integrated cameras, can be started from the transmitter while in the air.
G+_Joshua Delaughter
Ahh, I always assumed DJI had that feature with the GoPros

G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Eddie Foy The issues is feedback. You don't want to fly an entire mission and then find out that it wasn't recording.
G+_Joshua Delaughter
Eddie Foy While I don't think I'll be doing a Solonoid, you can use the video out cable into your VTX, and you can get GoPro specific OSD info, (rec time, battery, etc)?. I'm waiting for my car to text out the GoPro with video out's performance vs my 600tvl that came with my goggles kit
G+_D Funk
If I want photos rather than video, I set the gopro to take snaps every 2 seconds, but again this has to be started manually from the ground. Also can't really fly fpv this way because the gopro blanks the video-out signal to the transmitter when it takes a photo. This works pretty well for what I need because I generally keep the craft within about 1000 feet. I have the Phantom 2 which does not have control by radio. G+_Joshua Delaughter
Hm, I feel so ashamed, I don't think I've ever used any other mode than the video, and I guess I assumed I'd see time lapse in the video menu. I'll have to check when I get home, I have the white edition though, but online reviews seem to say that edition has it too. I also just learned how crappy the sensor is in the white edition
