G+_Taylor Riggan
I just had the LCD go out on my KK2.1.5 EVO flight controller. The backlight still works and the FC still seems to be operational. However, no text appears on the LCD, just a lit blank screen. Has anyone else experienced this issue? There are numerous posts online about a number of KKs with this issue. No definitive fix - some say reseating the ribbon cable, some say re-flashing the board, etc. No particular fix seems to be consistent. I'm just wondering with all of these issues, has anyone come up with an ultimate fix for this issue. Seems like a major design flaw.
G+_Travis Hershberger
It's in the nature of the tiny little LCD screen mounted on a small pcb and the constant vibration and shaking happening while in flight. Just got parts to start my first diy build with a KK2.1.5, so I imagine I'll be running into this soon as well. I'd try re-seating the ribbon cable first and keep troubleshooting from there. G+_Taylor Riggan
I've re-seated the ribbon cable a half-dozen times at this point. Doesn't seem to be it. I feel like there's either a cold solder joint or a short somewhere on the board. Another weird symptom is the M1 motor doesn't spin when throttling up the motors (yes, I can still arm the FC and throttle up even though the LCD won't work). I'm now pondering whether I can get this to work without the LCD while I finish the build. Problem is I won't be able to tune anything - I have yet to calibrate the ESCs for full throttle up and idle as well. I wish the schematics were available somewhere. I might just break down and see if I can reverse engineer some since so many others seem to have similar problems. They would definitely be useful. G+_Taylor Riggan
To anyone who has had this happen. Just flash the KK with the latest firmware. The screen came back to life after I did that.
