G+_Jason Kepple
I've heard it said a lot on the show that you should change your hard drive in a laptop to a new SSD. My laptop came with windows 8 if I did this what I have to buy windows 8 again or could I just reinstall it and use the same activation code? Thanks to everyone that gives advice on the Google plus page i'm really learning a lot.
G+_Keith Hiebert
The SSD you purchase, should come with cloning software. You will need a USB to sata connector to connect the new SSD to a USB port on the laptop. Run the cloning software, swap drives, done. Easy to do and makes a world of a difference. G+_Ben Reese
Definitely worth doing. Cloning the drive is definitely the easiest way to transition, but if that fails your Win 8 key should be on the bottom of the laptop. Check under the battery if it's not visible. G+_T Nohands
really shouldn't clone the drive instead first step 1 create reinstallation disk. Second back everything up you media = music, videos, pictures here's the part most people miss backup or copy write down all your settings and don't forget your documents and make sure you have all your activation keys sometimes best to call product manufacture for best method of transferring programs sometimes you need to inform them your changing out hardware if you can make a system image then instead of copying use your reinstallation disk to do a fresh install then update system drivers and reinstall everything or use your system image backup then do a system update remember system update from laptop manufacturer then windows up date and there you go and might get a usb hard drive enclosure for your old hard drive (if your ssd didn't come with one) and you can turn your old hard drive in to an external backup drive. hope that helps
