G+_Jason Kepple
Does anyone know anything about the vSphere client. I tried to delete a VM but it removed the entity and is still taking up space on my Data storage. Does anyone know how to find it so I can remove it from my server or a site I can go to that might help me?
G+_Taylor Graham
I think vm ware uses .vmdk images, so just search your drive for that file type. Using windows explorer, just enter 'type: vmdk' into the search bar.
G+_Billy Vaughn
If you open up your vSphere client and click the ESX host then click the summary tab. Under the Storage right click your datastore and choose Browse Datastore. You should be able to clean up anything that you don't want there. G+_Graham Forte
There are 2 options to remove a VM, one is "delete from disk" the other is "remove from inventory." or something like that. The latter will only remove from inventory and not delete it from the datastore.
G+_Ben Tyger
You need to 'browse the datastore'. This can be done by host object.
G+_Ben Reese
We're you able to find your files? There a program called WinDirStst that is awesome for finding what is consuming your drive space.
G+_Jason Kepple
I tried browsing the database but still can't find the file. I think I accidentally removed it from the inventory instead of deleting it from the desk. The only way I know of accessing the server is by using the The only way I know of accessing the server is by using the Vmsphere client from another desktop. I just started this job and the server was already set up. Does anyone know how to access the storage another way?
G+_Graham Forte
What is your configuration? Linux hosts? Usually the datastores are mounted at /vmfs/volumes...you can manually delete the directory with the offending VM.
G+_Jason Kepple
all the VMs have Windows Server 2008. We use vSphere to remote in from a different PC. I tried connecting a keyboard and monitor directly to the Server and just got a configuration page that mostly just gave me info about the Server. But no way of browsing the drives. G+_Ben Reese
So just a headless Windows Server? Are you the Admin or have Admin access? If so, you should be able to remotely view drive configuration and probably access the Admin shares to browse the drives.
