G+_Tony Padgett
You all are saying that you are moving over from Final Cut Pro to Adobe Premiere. I've not used AP so I am curious as to what's promoting you to change?
G+_Will O'Meara
I think they are doing it so that they can have more control over the hardware now that apple has replaced the cheese grater mac pro with the trash can. Premiere allows them to use windows so they can build their machines to spec and upgrade them as needed.
G+_Rich Fowler
What Will O'Meara said. FCP is a great program, and the Mac is a fun platform, but having had a major update of FCP essentially tell me, "Buy a new computer," I'm never going that route again. (I did buy a new computer. Windows.)
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
All of the above --- For the price of 3 new Mac Pros, we were able to buy 5 more-capable Windows machines and absolutely SCREAM through AP renders. Also... since Apple decided that FCP was going to become "iMovie Pro" we really didn't want to invest any more resources in that direction. G+_Rich Fowler
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ show idea: Hackintosh! I kind of miss Mac OS X, but my wallet doesn't miss $800 mobo repairs. I've assembled my own PC rigs since the 486DX2-66 days, so a Hackintosh might be kind of fun! (But I won't go back to FCP.)
