G+_Carlton Dodd
I bought a cheap little GSM-connected device from China to play with. I need what looks like a full-sized SIM card, on a pre-pay network to use with it. I know I can just go buy a pre-paid SIM, and a cheap phone to activate it. But, would the SIM still work, once I transferred it to the device? Does anyone have any experience with this type of thing?
G+_D Kyle
Personaly i would give the idea of using a Chinese phone for the Chinese phone network a wide bearth using another countries sim card. Even the wifi could be shakey. The hardware for their home market does not mirror other requirements worldwide. Keep it as a momento.
G+_Dan Hockey
Check with Ting.com to see if it will work their network(sprint). If it will get a sim, the last sim I got was $9.00.
G+_Ben Reese
Probably need to check the bands too. The two large GSM carriers in the US are AT&T and T-Mobile. You'll probably need a sim card from one of them, but the radios may not suport one or the other.
G+_Carlton Dodd
Ben Reese "Documentation" says 900, 1800, 1900MHz. D Kyle I'm aware of the security concerns with Chinese devices. I'm kind of into privacy/security myself. This is a remote PIR sensor. It has no wifi. Even if it does leak data, all it knows is if the sensor has been tripped, and the number it needs to send a text to. If you can think of vulnerabilities I haven't thought of, I'd be grateful.
