G+_Neil Carmichael
In previous jobs I've had to lug a (m$) laptop to and from work on public transport as part of their "disaster recovery" plan. I thought a "cheeky" idea would be to boot using a USB stick into my own personal (linux or android) OS so I can use the machine for my personal stuff during the journey. Is running booting-from and exclusively-using a USB stick viable and usable, or is this a stupid idea and I should stick to staring out the trains windows instead? G+_Keith Mallett
Does it have UEFI and a TPM?
G+_Neil Carmichael
yes, I believe so. I've just found the site http://www.pendrivelinux.com/ which looking interesting
G+_Keith Mallett
That looks cool yes. I don't think you can boot some systems to USB with UEFI but I'm not 100% so you can do it "accidentally" and see what happens. If your IT dept. has bitlocker turned on with TPM then you may not be able to boot it to USB. Of course it's only 6:30 am so I haven't filled my wrong quota yet. See what happens. G+_Matthew Bowen
http://www.easy2boot.com It seriously doesn't get much easier. You are welcome.
G+_Travis Hershberger
I use YUMI from pendrivelinux.com for almost all my usb boot things. Among them are a couple of live Linux distributions with space provisioned for persistence. It works, tho a little slow (I'm using a USB3 stick, but it's still a USB stick) even compared to an old fashioned hard drive.
