G+_Jason Brown
I've started doing my part in making the Internet a safer place, by offering free workshops at my church. The workshops are specifically geared to the technically disinclined. I did a full OpenDNS workshop that covered everything, down to how to properly setup limited and admin users. My question; does anyone know of a repository for curriculum for this type of thing? I'm pretty good at making a friendly, jargon-free space. I love doing my part for the cause. But writing this stuff up alone is time consuming and a bit daunting. A community driven resource would be wonderful. It'd also be nice to have a place to make my own contributions as well. My goal is to have a series of easy to follow walk-throughs to accompany my workshops, something that users can take home and do themselves. I plan to build out a series that I can rotate through all year. I want my workshops to be thorough, but not too heady. The link to my workshop is below if anyone is curious. It's not pretty and I wouldn't mind any constructive criticism. Be kind, this is my first time doing something like this. https://1drv.ms/f/s!AizEJnzm85VVeDY9FsvFdlrN-wg https://1drv.ms/f/s!AizEJnzm85VVeDY9FsvFdlrN-wg
G+_Dino Revie
Nice. Since this Workshop is about Internet safety, I would recommend you have them change the router password. And, write it down and keep it in a safe place.
G+_Jason Brown
Thanks guys. Oh yeah, a smart kid can get around most things. But as long as they setup a good tiered user system for everyone, they should be fine. It gets tricky when you add smart devices with mobile plans. But they can take that up with their carrier, right? I just feel bad for non-techy parents that feel out of their depth on these things.
