Can anyone recommend a good, small, inexpensive, battery powered Bluetooth speaker that my wife could use during labor? We need one that can play for a long time on battery. I realize I can't have it all, I don't mean to sound like THAT guy. So any speaker with as much of those options as possible, but the battery especially. We aren't audiophiles, so moderate sound quality would be okay.

Since you don't need great audio quality, getting one from Amazon with a long playtime is your best bet.

I had way too much experience with hospitals a few years back, and you can almost always charge a phone wherever you happen to be if you bring a wall charger. So just be sure to bring a charger with 2 charging ports on it.

I wouldn't buy the Fugoo based on price alone. Even the Bose at Sam's is <$100. We just bought my dad a "Plunge Bluetooth Wireless Speaker" from Sam's for ~$50. I haven't heard it yet, but reviews were good. It floats (good for later use at the pool maybe), has 20W speakers, and claims 20 hours battery life (I really hope she's not in labor for that long!) It may just be a bit larger than you need...

And as Travis Hershberger?? said, don't rule out the "cheap" speakers from Amazon. Mine is a TaoTronics brand that cost <$30. It's durable enough (has fallen a couple times around 5ft in the garage) and plenty loud for most needs.

Another option... Not battery powered, but the Echo Dot can work as a Bluetooth speaker also. It looks like it's $40 on Amazon right now, which isn't too bad.

Jason Brown from what I've seen padre' show-off and praise Fugoo on the show.

But, there is the thing, your wife (during labor) will love you and hate you all in the same breath.(apparently pain will do that to a person) Are you sure you want some small object in the room that she may throw at you?(and never say 'she'll never do that') at the very least, have it on the other side of the room, out of her reach.

For your safety, and to your new child... Congratulations.

The UE Roll 2 is a nice speaker. I have one I use at work and have used outside. It puts out some nice sound. Don't know if it is as tough as the Fugoo but I have definitely drop tested it. It is about $100. You might be able to find it cheaper on Amazon or eBay.
