G+_Adam EL-Idrissi
Looking at new hosts for a virtual lab and was wondering if anyone has used these for an esxi or xen host. Storage isn't a thing since everything will be on a nas. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=59-108-
G+_Travis Hershberger
Have you thought about a used server? A few companies are around that will sell them with a good warranty, and you can get a lot more powerful system for the same sort of money. The only downside is that they will draw a bit more power than a new one (not a lot assuming equivalent configurations.) Stallard Technologies (www.stikc.com) is who I normally deal with, Server Monkey (www.servermonkey.com) and xByte (www.xbyte.com) are also reputable vendors. G+_Adam EL-Idrissi
Those sites have some good deals. I was going to build a new server with a 8 thread CPU,16gb ram and a supermicro motherboard but that would've been the price if the price of 2 of these and what seems to not be that much of a performance jump. I looked on eBay and this processor and an Intel server board is about $140. The dell t110 v2 looks tempting at $380 even with a HDD I don't need.haha
