My new roommate watches amazon prime on my fire stick and that's all HD. When it was just me or me and my old roommate we never went over 240gb/month. But he barely used the network. I setup qos to try and lower the usage but then found out about unlimited so it doesn't matter anymore. I get throttled for steam downloads and Netflix already. I'm really irritated Netflix doesn't allow VPN connections anymore. I'm in the US,servers in the US.don't see the problem. Spoke with CS and the rep said it's an automated system that doesn't care where the server us it still gets blocked. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They can't tell where your public IP is located if you're routed through a VPN, so there's no way they'd know whether you were in the US or not. Depending on your bandwidth needs and how much you're willing to spend, you could setup a VPN server of your own on a VPS like Digital Ocean. Their bottom line plan is $5/mo for 1 TB of transfer and you'd get your own public IP that shouldn't be blacklisted by Netflix. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think they'll update their automation.hopefully. my current VPN service gets renewed in a few months. If it still blocks it I'll setup up a vpn through my digital ocean account. Unless you live in one of the areas where they are charging by the Gigabyte, Comcast has not been enforcing the download caps for over a year. From there meter site: "Note: Enforcement of the 250GB data consumption threshold is currently suspended." I used 552 Gig last month and over 600GB the month before. I haven't used < 250 GB in over a year now. Lots of Netflix, Youtube and my wife and I are gamers, so we get updates and new game downloads all of the time. I went with unlimited because lots of streaming especially amazon HD lately which is 5-10gb a movie/show. Checking my router shows 15-38gb a day. They also charge $10 for every extra 50gb used. This months was 430gb so an extra $30 with what it cost to get on the unlimited "trial" nonsense. I was going to switch to business class but this is essentially the same for $40 cheaper.
