G+_Kevin Palmer
Hey AAA crew, I'm looking for a good internet radio alarm app, one that would preferably allow for setting different repeating alarms as I don't work a normal m-f schedule. Any input would be greatly appreciated! Free is best of course, but would be more than willing to pay for a quality app! Currently using both a Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 (2013), would be great if it could sync like timely but both are on my nightstand so not a deal breaker. Thanks in advance guys/gals! G+_Demond Rice
Pandora now let's you use it as your radio alarm.
G+_Kevin Palmer
thanks Demond Rice but was hoping to get something that would let me get a radio station (my current actual alarm clock doesn't get the best reception on my NPR station and was hoping to replace that using an Android device). But that is for sure good to know, I have friends who like to have random songs to wake up to and this will give them a lot more options!
G+_Thomas Hutchings
Can't personally vouch for it. (Just did a quick test, couple minutes. Seemed to work and let's you create more than one alarm in the settings.) No idea if it will have the station(s) you want. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android.DroidLiveLite
G+_Marlon Thompson
Tune in Radio pro has an alarm feature, though you can only set one repeat alarm at a time. Its a little clumsy to find but you must first select the station then select options and then set alarm
G+_Kevin Palmer
Thomas Hutchings thanks! I will check it out. Marlon Thompson yeah I thought about that too but my schedule is set but not normal m-f or 9-5 so need more flexibility.
G+_Colin Murphy
Alarm Clock Plus allows you to start up an application at "alarm time" and I can get it to start Tune in Radio. I am fighting with Tune In Radio to start up straight away playing a channel though. I suspect it's just a case of getting the settings right. ? UPDATE - OK, got it. There is an "Auto Restart Player" setting in Tune In Radio, but the trick is to have the player playing the station you want and then exit Tune In Radio. The next time it stays up, either because you've started it, or Alarm Clock Plus has called it, the station will start up, tales about a minute though. Alarm Clock Plus has a test time alarm setting which you should play with to avoid disappointment.
G+_Kevin Palmer
Colin Murphy thanks, I will give it a try and see how reliable it is, I don't sleep well if I don't trust my alarm to go off, so will probably have this and other solutions going for a few weeks until I figure out a rock solid system. G+_Colin Murphy
Kevin Palmer I must say I've never had Alarm Clock Plus let me down but introducing the variability of Internet Radio would do nothing for my peace of mind. I would have secondary alarms set.
G+_Jon Payne
Gentle Alarm allows you to use an Internet stream for your alarm. You just need the URL of the stream. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobitobi.android.gentlealarm
