G+_rod moles
Hello all, I have an generic Chinese Android 4.1.1 tablet HBE (Heartbleed Edition). There is no chance of a manufacturer OS update (I'm not even sure who the manufacturer is). Does anyone know if it is safe to use for anything other than a door stop? G+_Travis Hershberger
You could always experiment with it, see if you can get a more recent version to load. (My phone is Gingerbread still, only gets used for call/text and hotspot tho.)
G+_Stephen Hart
You can load it with audio and video and pdf files and view them locally. If your router has a "guest" mode with its own password that only lets it see out to the internet and not into your LAN, then you can surf to imdb and stuff, just don't use password related stuff if you think it might send it to a 3rd party. G+_rod moles
Thanks for the suggestions guys! I've restored it to factory settings and set it up with the alternate Google account that is not connected to anything else but didn't think about the guest login. I'll do that now. G+_rod moles
Thanks Louis, but it doesn't have any markings on it. The 8 inch tablet came from an Aliexpress supplier in China. The seller's name was Shenzhen Pulixing Electronics LTD.
