G+_Eddie Hughes
Couldn't figure out how to paste the photo in my other thread... The battery is strapped and Velcro'ed under the body and the receiver is between the top and bottom plate located under the flight controller... (Anyone know why my 450 class yaws so much? It is constantly turning clockwise and is hard to control. I have no yaw control on my transmitter. I am using the APM 2.6 flight controller but everything else except the landing skids are stock from the know how list. I have recalibrated my accelerometer, compass, and esc's a bunch of times as well as auto-trimmed and auto-tuned but nothing seems to work. I tried different flight modes, (loiter, althold, acro, sport, drift, etc...) but nothing allows me to regain my yaw control on my transmitter. In the video I had RTL engaged and this was the result. Any help is appreciated!) Thank you!?
G+_Eddie Foy
Yaw? Adjust trim on the TX. It should have a button. If that fails, swap 2 motors that turn opposite ways, and see if it yaws the other way. (or mechanical or less likely electronic issue)
G+_Taylor Graham
Rule out the gyro/accell if the APM has some kind of sensor output you can watch while bench testing the quad. Make sure escs are calibrated. If the APM has a motor testing function, do all of the motors spin up at the same time? Check your motors. is one of them at an angle (they'll probably be fine since youre using the alienx frame). Beyond that, is you TX functioning? if the apm has a TX test function, test that. It could also be the quad trying to compensate for something, so check you PIDs.
G+_Eddie Foy
Also try acro mode without the GPS/Compass plugged in. Have you deviated much from default values in the APM FlightPlanner or GroundControl?
G+_Eddie Hughes
I did a little, I read some forums and changed the stabilize yaw and rate yaw in the PID screen...I went through all of the flight modes but haven't unplugged the GPS yet. Going to try now.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Ok... that's interesting.... -- Ignore all other advice -- Your motor rotation is wrong: #1 = top left #2 = top right #3 = bottom right #4 = bottom left #1 & #3 should be Clockwise #2 & #4 should be counter-clockwise You have #1 & #4 turning CCW You have #2 & #3 turning Clockwise Swap leads to make them turn the right way, and swap props on #1 & #2 Check you pinout on the Ardupilot to make sure ESCs are in the proper pins.? G+_Eddie Hughes
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ, The information I found online about the APM said, #1 = top right #2 = bottom left #3 = top left #4 = bottom right http://copter.ardupilot.com/wiki/initial-setup/motor-setup/ But, knowing that you have had a lot more experience flying than myself, I took your advice (realizing that the back 2 motors were switched) and swapped the leads and props on the back to motors...I worked on it for 3 days btw...lol FLIES LIKE A DREAM!!! Thank you everyone very much for the help!!! I am now going to get som crazy glue and fix my landing skids and take her for a ride. Please feel free to make fun of me for this mistake so I never do it again :)
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Eddie Hughes I only knew the answer because I've made that mistake before. :) Happy flying!
