G+_Eddie Hughes
Has anyone flown a DJI Phantom? I bought a phantom 2 view a few months ago and feel like I'm cheating the quadcopter RC hobby...should I feel this way?
G+_Carlton Dodd
Flew my step-dad's Phantom 3 Pro last week. It's so smooth it feels wrong, doesn't it? I want one SO hard!
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Yes... you are a bad person, and you should feel bad about yourself! :-P
G+_Ben Reese
Yup, was listening to some dude on TWiET who was recommending they anyone interested should build instead of buy. More for your money and a better understanding of the tech. But, if you have the money to spend, you might as well spend it.
G+_Jeth Rigoroso
Don't be too hard on yourself. I also ended up buying a Phantom 2 because I kept on getting frustrated with my ESC's burning out and waiting almost 2 weeks for new parts to arrive every time something breaks (I'm in Hawaii). And never learning how to properly fly without breaking something. But I prefer to have BOTH. It's always good to have best of both worlds. I have a Phantom 2 and a home built quadcopter. I use the Phantom for aerial photography and I use the home built for stunts and acrobatics. That one is broken at the moment. What I'm trying to figure out is how to have a custom built quadcopter, but with the same control principles as a DJI Phantom. I'm guessing, use a NAZA controller and mod the transmitter to have a self centering throttle.
G+_Eddie Hughes
I had some nitro RC trucks I traded the local hobby shop for store credit and then paid it off...local hobby shops are awesome! The only real thing that bothers me about it is everything is line of site, I'm assuming for safety reasons. If I fly around an obstacle it loses connection and then starts the return to home feature. :( I live around a lot of trees and obstacles...is there anyway to mod the radio so it doesn't do that? G+_Larry Havenstein
Nothing wrong with owning both a DJI and homebuilt multi-rotors. I am not going to pull stupid stunts with my DJI but I will with my other multis. Its kind of like having a DLSR camera and a cellphone. Both have their purpose when taking pictures. G+_Larry Havenstein
So ya, that means get MOOOORE Multis!
G+_Andrew Schwenk
A professor at my college has a DJI Inspire. I look down on him because I cannot afford such a masterpiece and must settle for a 450 I built myself. Secretly I'm going to take his class just so I can get close to him and fly his Inspire >:D
G+_Larry Havenstein
Well do you know he doesn't have half a dozen other multis at home? Wayne. I shouldn't say anything about your comment since I work for a University. :) Universities are like the real world some are smart across many things and others only are smart in a very narrow field. You really notice that as a computer consultant or computer engineer.
G+_Andrew Schwenk
Larry Havenstein I don't know him personally, but even with my know hole filled with quad knowledge, I would still really like something as good as a DJI for aerial photography
