G+_Floyd Fernandez
Here is a goofy question I have a dell studio 1555 long in the tooth upgrade to SSD more memory but I got my hands on a hp pro book 6550b with an i5 processor ( I know what your all thinking just dump it and get a new laptop but I have video gear that uses FireWire so that's why I'm still three years back in technology.) Is it better for performance to grab the i5 processor and stick it in the dell or scrap the dell and move the memory and SSD to the HP? Thanks for everyone's time for a goofy problem.? G+_Ben Reese
You'd have to check the specs and compatibility, but I'm about 95% sure that i5 won't work in the Dell. The SSD should go over without a problem, but the RAM may not match either. I'd probably us the i5 HP for normal use and repurpose the Core2Duo as a media center PC, home server, or doorstop. Core2Duo still isn't terrible, but I think the i5 will blow it away - especially with an SSD.
