G+_Jamie Kuusisto
Thinking about getting WS2811 LEDs what are your thoughts about 12v vs 5v? Are the 12v brighter?
G+_Ben Reese
I don't have experience with either one, but would expect the 12v to be brighter. The total watts would be a bigger indicator than voltage, though. 12v, 1A = 12W. 5v, 3A = 15W.
G+_Jim Hofmann
Found a spec sheet at Adafruit. https://cdn-shop.adafruit.com/datasheets/WS2811.pdf On page 5 it shows a 5 and 12 volt connection. They both draw 18.5 mA. So 92.5 mW vs. 222 mW, the 12 v "should be brighter. But that's just an assumption, since there were no luminence specs listed. And you know what assume means. :) cdn-shop.adafruit.com - cdn-shop.adafruit.com/datasheets/WS2811.pdf
