G+_John Bunting
Love know how. Currently, I am having #chromecast problem, when watching knowhow, tnt on youtube. Cast from tab always works, but cast from youtube player works sometimes. The cast icon doesn't always appear on the youtube player. Cast from youtube player is a much better experience. I run chrome on my pc laptop running win8. Any ideas or can you point me to good chromecast community?
G+_Steve C
Just curious but what do you mean by "youtube player"? Do you mean the embedded player on a web page? How would that be any different from playing youtube directly from a tab?

Cast from the yt player means I can totally shut down my laptop and the video continues to play on my big screen.
G+_Steve C
Have you tried Netflix? It plays very poorly using a Roku or a Blu-ray player and stops to buffer all the time. Twit does the same thing too. Maybe that's the problem you are having? I was able to make the problem better but not solve it completely by switching to a different DNS server so you might try that. G+_John Bunting
Yes, you must use the youtube embedded player for best experience. With much experimentation, I got it to "cast from player" reliably. It seems to depend on the order you click the "cast from tab" and "cast from player" icons. First click "cast from tab", then "cast from player" icons. Sometimes I have to repeat this sequence several times. Overall, chromecast is a great product and would be greater if Amazon and others would suppoort cast. I have not joined netflix yet, so I can't tell you if that works. G+_Steve C
Can you play twit.tv?
G+_John Bunting
http://twit.tv/2013/01/10/changes-twit-youtube Yes, any of these on this link, all of which play from the embedded youtube player. The twit.tv embedded player versions use a player not compatible with chromecast, so will only play from the tab. On another subject, does anyone know what the chromecast speed settings =0.25,0.5,normal,1.5,2 do? I can't see any change when these are changed. G+_Steve C
A lot of others are complaining about having problems playing Youtube and it seems to depend on their ISP. I haven't had any problems with that, just Netflix but others on Comcast I think it was, seem to be having problems. You might try changing the DNS or using a VPN and see if that helps. G+_John Bunting
In my search on "chromecast", I came up with a guy who says alt-tab is the easy way to analyze what's going on when in full screen mode with "cast from youtube player" and "cast from tab" modes. I think I had both modes going at the same time, without realizing that. With alt-tab, you should see only one, the "cast from youtube player" with the small cast icon visible at the bottom. If another shows without the small cast icon at the bottom, kill it.
