G+_George Kozi
Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ Every drone i've seen has the plain on which the propellers rotate parallel to the body. Has anybody explored the idea of placing that plain (for each arm) at a shallow angle? What would happen if one did that? What about a variable geometry for the angle of the propellers? ... so that they could tilt in the direction of the flight etc. What about a lifting body type construction for the body of the drone? G+_Travis Hershberger
I think they actually mentioned this very briefly when talking about the 3D printer reviews they were doing about a month ago. Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ was showing off some spacers that very slightly tilted the motors in to the middle of the frame. I think it was 10°, but don't quote me on that. G+_Taylor Graham
Get fpv makes angled motor mounts for the qav250. A couple companies are doing it now, and I'm sure there are plenty of 3D models available already. ?
G+_Taylor Graham
Collective pitch multicopters are the walruses knees. All the props are driven via a single motor, and you can fly inverted. If a multicopter were ever created to run on fossil fuels, it would probably have a similar design to the collective pitch quads out now.
G+_George Kozi
When I say tilting, I'm thinking more of that crazy thing the marines have. It takes off vertically, and then it tilts the propeller 90 degrees.
