It's been clear for a while that task killer apps shouldn't be used. They make you feel good but only screw things up. Even Jason questioned it on the show. "Dumb apps" should be uninstalled, reported to the developer, or configured properly. ? Are people voting for bad apps just to give Ron a win?

Yeah but if Ron doesn't win he's just going to grouse about how the vote is fixed like he has been doing for the last month or so - funny when it wasn't fixed when he went so far ahead. So vote for the app you really think is the best and that's the end of it. If Ron wins he'll crow about it and not whine how he's never won a year before (pick better apps then), if he loses then expect the sour grapes. But a task killer winning? Really?

I wanted Ron Richards? to win since Gina wasn't there.. But really? A task killer? It's obvious at this point people are just voting for his app because they want him to win. Any other arena of the year this wouldn't fly. Can we get rematch of this week? To disqualify Gina Trapani? just because she couldn't make it is pretty cold.. Especially when it was that close.

I have been thinking about this and Shutapp is something I would use and I can tell you the reasons why.  And the biggest thing is the white listing.

There are a number of places where I work that the only signal I have on my cell or any cell is wi fi. The amount of apps trying to connect through the non existent cell signal drains the crap out of my battery when this happens. To be able to make a white list of apps that I need for work and shut down the rest for a time would be great.

I mean should I uninstall those apps before I go in a building or area with no cell signal and then reinstall and set them back up when I have cell signal?

I have a HTC Evo 4G LTE and if I turn on the wifi data goes through it instead of cellular, but every time I have little or no cell coverage and even if I have the wi fi on.. the battery drains because of all the running apps trying to make connections. It would not be noticeable but I can't afford to get a new phone and the battery is not replaceable. So the older the phone gets the battery drains faster while on the wi fi.

Like I said, I can see use cases for something like Shutapp and I am one of them. But like any app, it would not be for everyone.

In this pole for instance, I can use just about every app save "one more line" simply because I can't play all the games I already own on Android. Thank you Humble Bundle.
