Spent part of Yesterday morning between wind gusts to replace my VHF/UHF antenna feedline from RG8X to LMR400. My antenna is the N9TAX slim jim mounted on a PVC "Bow" (white semi circle in 1st pic) on top of a 24 foot fiberglass mast that's attached to the side of the attic and sits on the shed roof about 10 feet up. Second pic is a close up of the RF Choke coil (8 turns - 8 inch opening as per K3DAV) I pre-formed the coils around a 1 gal paint can (6.75 inches diameter) when released the stiff LMR400 "springs" back to 8-9 inches diameter, final forming is done around a 4 quart stock pot (8 inch dia.) I quickly tied the loops with zip-ties and electrical tape. This creates a toroid with an 8 inch opening. More Zip-ties and electrical tape to attach to mast.
