G+_Jason McKinney
So now that the man of all things Enterprise is on there, thought I would ask: At my job we use subnets. I understand why they do subnets, but I wonder if there's a good use for one on my home network? Do I gain any type of performance boost or increase of security? G+_Joe Phelps
No advantage at home. It's for routing/management purposes at work.
G+_Vincent Tompkins
The real power/utility of VLANs comes with an enterprise class router for controlling the traffic between them.
G+_Joe Phelps
Vincent Tompkins He wasn't asking about VLANs.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
Jason McKinney Good questions. Unless you've got an incredibly large, flat home network that you want to break out into multiple segments: no. Can you do it for fun? Sure. :)
